Inspired Book Club
As a writer, former magazine editor, and avid reader, I love a good story and a great book. Especially ones that reveal something truly new, fascinating, magical… and inspire a quantum leap in creating an amazing life. Here are a few of my favourites.
Creating the Impossible: What it takes to bring your vision to life, by Barbra Edie
I wrote this book as my own journey of transformation and vulnerability, sharing deeply personal stories and those of other visionary leaders, about the true power of following your heart and inner guidance. It is only “impossible” until it’s done.
Reflections on the Art of Living: A Joseph Campbell Companion edited by Diane K. Osbon
In addition to my own book (Creating the Impossible), this is the one I give most frequently as a gift.
Joseph Campbell, renowned mythologist, author and teacher, coined the phrase: “Follow your bliss.” His words, wisdom, and teachings continue to inspire me to live fully, take chances, and have faith doors will open where I didn’t know they were going to be.

Sparking Change Around the Globe: 5 ways to make your difference in the world
In Sparking Change Around the Globe, top leaders of transformation and non-profit organizations share their stories, wisdom and insights on making their vision a reality… and how they achieved what others considered “impossible” to create the change in the world they wished to see. You’ll discover five common practices these visionary change-makers share, and how you can find your own fire to spark to ignite change in the world–or in your own life.
The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle.
Written in 1999 and still on the bestseller lists, this is one of my all time favourite books on human consciousness. I reread it whenever I need to get out of my head and into my heart.
There are a lot of books about spiritual enlightenment but Tolle’s simple language and clarity of thought brings the abstract into real life application. Most of our suffering comes from our mind. If you can master your thinking and being in the present moment rather than the past, you can transform your life.
The Decisive Moment by Jonah Lehrer.
Both delightful and insightful, Lehrer offers the latest in neuroscience as well as riveting case studies on how pilots, politicians, quarterbacks, and others make decisions under fire.
It is a brilliant, often humorous account, of how the brain makes up its mind, what’s happening in our heads, and how we might make better decisions. In one of my favourite stories, Lehrer cites how a couple of airline pilots tapped into their intuition to come up with a new way to land a plane after all three hydraulic systems failed. Incredible. Sometimes the imagination is more powerful—and useful—than the rational mind.
The Magician’s Way by William Whitecloud.
An inspiring allegory about what it takes to find your “treasure” and create the life that you truly love. Woven through the story are seven secrets of magic, the foremost being that “focus creates reality.” I have personally trained and worked with William Whitecloud in applying the principles of The Magician’s Way, and created some extraordinary results and life experiences by engaging my heart and higher consciousness. When things go off track, The Magician’s Way offers ways to refocus and activate the power and magic that lies within all of us. A simple, yet empowering read.
