Happy Spring! (For those of us in the northern hemisphere.)

Spring is the perfect time to follow up on my post last week about the value of bringing your “whole self” to your work, and knowing that you are so much more than your skill set and expertise.

So let’s explore the “value of you” part two.

Where in your work, and life, can you bring your authentic personality, leadership, life experience, hidden talents, or unexpected gifts and qualities to the service of others?

Now that you’ve identified a big part of your true value, i.e., who you are as a person, and the difference you make in people’s lives, how could you incorporate that “star quality” in your message, marketing, or irresistible offers?

For example, Marie Kondo, the Japanese queen of decluttering (who’s now on Netflix) performs a lovely ritual of blessing the home of her clients before they begin the huge task of tidying up. The Japanese are all about rituals and reverence for life, and this is a beautiful, authentic part of Marie’s gift and service.

As a personal example, I offer my own brief meditation before every coaching session, and ask clients to bring their awareness to the present moment and attune to the energy of their heart. It just takes a few minutes, aligns their heart and mind’s wisdom, and completely changes the energy and results of our time together.

How could you let people sample or experience what makes your amazing-self different from others in your field or industry?

In my previous post, I mentioned my client who runs what’s known as the Best Spa on Vancouver Island. Why? Because she adds “soul care” to skin care and body work. As part of her soul massages or facials, she creates a sacred energetic space specifically for the client, performs the treatment with healing hands, and gives an intuitive reading as she unlocks the tension in the body’s muscles and cells. You leave the spa in an altered state… usually pure bliss.

Now back to you. Maybe your work is a little more conventional, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get creative in sharing your gifts and talents.

How could you put your product or service in front of more people?

If you’re an author, you could put a sample chapter (of course, the best chapter) of your book on your website, or release excerpts in a series of Facebook posts.

If you’re a consultant, you could offer an assessment or info session in a unique location (relevant to your work), other than your office or the golf course.

Maybe you’re a realtor AND a feng shui expert. Seriously, I would combine the two.

Perhaps you’re a keynote speaker. Add your personal playlist to the presentation.

Got a great idea worth spreading? Add a clip of your Ted Talk to your email signature. I see this a lot, and I love it.

Launching something new in your business? Create a 3-minute video trailer (movie style) of the product, program, or event.

There are as many ways as there are people, to give others a taste of how you and what you offer will rock their world and make their life better.

It’s spring. Bring the VALUE of YOU to something NEW.

Be creative. Original. Outrageous. Unexpected. Novel.
And most importantly be you.

Authenticity is critical in magnetizing more of your ideal clients, partners, or tribe to you. The quality of your offering and how you share it must truly reflect the quality of your work.

I’ll leave you with one of my favourite quotes from a writer I wish I had known, Oscar Wilde. “Be yourself. Everyone else is taken.”
