As I embark on my fourth trip to Africa, in less than two years, I’m starting to get what author Peter Senge says, “It’s not what the vision is, it’s what the vision DOES.”
Each time I follow my true nature and heart’s intelligence, I have a deeper understanding of my own creative power—and creating my own experience. Magic happens. Things unfold, people show up, messages arrive in my inbox, and wild opportunities appear that would not have seemed possible… even a year ago.
When I climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro last September 2016, while raising thousands of dollars for a children’s home in Kenya, I had no idea of the ripple effect.
I did not know, for example, that reaching Kilimanjaro’s summit would be part of the message of my book, Creating the Impossible, which I would publish just two months later, and that it would become a metaphor for the clients I now teach and mentor to realize their big vision and “climb their next mountain.”
And wait there’s more!
One of the founders of the Kenyan children’s home (that I climbed Kilimanjaro to support) read my newly-launched book, loved it, and asked if I’d help adapt Creating the Impossible for a special integrative curriculum for school children.
Boom! What a beautiful opportunity to share my message with children. All of a sudden I’m returning to Africa to teach and empower bright young Kenyans about consciously creating dreams they care about and lives that matter.
If that wasn’t enough, one synergetic connection led to another, and I was also invited to teach and empower young children at the Building Hope Academy, a school in rural Kenya near the world famous Maasai Mara.
Imagine the impact of bringing hope, possibility, and new way of looking at the world to these Kenyan kids and future leaders of their communities—or nation.
“It’s not what the vision is, it’s what the vision does.”
Once you take action and move boldly toward your dream, especially one that is a true expression of you, the vision just continues to expand… and expand… and expand. Trust me on that one.
And here’s the real magic of igniting your vision. When we live—and act—from a place of truth and authentic power we can focus on creating what we want in the world rather than reacting to what we don’t want.
Now wouldn’t that be refreshing on the current world stage?
“When people make a fundamental choice to be true to what is highest in them, or when they make a choice to fulfill a purpose in their life, they can easily accomplish many changes that seemed impossible or improbable in the past,” says Robert Fritz, author of The Path of Least Resistance.
Yup. Couldn’t agree more. Fritz also says, “When people are united with their real power —the power to create what they want to create—they always choose what is highest in humanity . . . challenges worthy of the human spirit.”
Therein lies the true power and grace of what moving your vision forward does. It engages your soul’s nature and deep truth, while engaging challenges worthy of the human spirit—your spirit!
And that, my friends, will change the world.
I’m taking my soul on tour to Africa for a few months. So stay tuned for where my vision takes me next.
