It’s a new year and big dreams and audacious goals are top-of-mind. In the few weeks my inbox and social media has been jammed with all kinds of goal setting programs, success blueprints, and courses to create miracles. While I appreciate the good intentions, we all know where those lead. So that’s why I commit to my one-word theme—to keep me focused, aligned and moving the action forward.

This simple practice can be a game-changer as to how your year rolls out.

My “word” for 2016 was “genius,” with my focus on expanding and experiencing the magic that happens when you tap into your natural talents, inner wisdom, and highest source of creative power.

Here’s are just a few examples of what tapping in my “genius” helped me create:

  • I found a great publisher and launched my third book, Creating the Impossible. It’s the one I believe I came to the planet to write.
  • My book became a bestseller on Amazon
  • The book was described as “soul-shaking,” “compelling,” and “the antidote for a small, uninspired life.”
  • One reviewer said: “I’ve read a lot of books that offer roadmaps that give you steps to FOLLOW. This book is different… it give you the tools to LEAD a fulfilling life. This book helped me discover things about myself no other book has.”
  • I went on a “soul safari” in South Africa and connected more deeply to my own inner wisdom while taking in the beauty and magnificence of getting up close and personal (not too personal) with leopards, lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, rhinos, hippos, water buffalo, impalas, and so much more over vast African plains and under deep red skies.
  • In September, I took my third trip to Africa to climb Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest mountain at 19, 341 feet, and fulfilled a personal dream while raising a few thousand dollars to support about 40 abandoned kids in Kenya who needed a home, an education, and some love.
  • The principles in “Creating the Impossible” are being considered as part of a new curriculum for a school in Africa to teach children a mindset that will empower them to consciously create what they want in life from a young age!
  • I plan to return to Africa (Kenya) in 2017 to meet and volunteer with the kids at Kipchamgaa Children’s Home, and spend time on a beach writing my next book (which my publisher has already requested).
  • I now have a deeper understanding of what it means to “follow your bliss” and why it matters—to you and the planet.

So there it is, my friends. That’s how the past year rolled out as I let “genius” be my guide and my soul drive.

Einstein said, “Imagination is the preview of life’s coming attractions,” and I look forward to the scenes of my life in the upcoming months.

What’s my word for 2017? “Epic.” Yup. Epic… as in grand, monumental, heroic.

Stay tuned.

What will you imagine and create in 2017?

What will be your ‘word-for-the-year’?

What will be your reality?

Whatever you envision for your new year, may you create your (desired) reality rather than resolutions and wishes that hold no power.

Imagine it. Create it. Live it. Love it.
